In Travis County only 2.6 percent of voters turned out for early voting.
"[I'm] hoping we're going to have a good turnout. We're hoping the day finishes stronger than early voting started. It was a little quiet for early voting," Travis County Clerk Dana DeBeauvoir said. "This seems to be one of those unusual situations for Travis County; it's not going to be in the lead for voter turnout this time around. And I think there are a couple of factors causing that … One of them is that we had the District 48 election and I think some people think the primary already happened … Also, I think, there are some people who are thinking about signing one of the petitions for one of the independent candidates. And of course if you want to do that, then you do have to sit out the primary. If you just want to vote for the independent candidates come November, you can participate today."
To vote, make sure you take your yellow voting card. If you don't have that, bring a photo ID.
