Thuraya to develop high-speed satellite broadband solution
    Irish Sun
    Thursday 18th March, 2010
    (IANS)

Thuraya is to develop a high-speed broadband terminal for the maritime industry in partnership with Comtech, WAM news agency reported Thursday.

The new terminal, which is designed and built incorporating leading market technology, is set for launch in September.

The Comtech maritime terminal will provide high-quality voice services as well as a broadband service at speeds of up to 444 kbps. Users will also be able to access high-speed video-streaming at speeds of 384 kbps at sea. The competitiveness of the new solution lies in its compact size and cost-effectiveness to meet the needs of the enterprise sector, especially in the maritime market.
