Australian swimmer Leisel excited about Commonwealth Games

    (IANS)

Champion swimmer Leisel Jones of Australia is more excited than apprehensive about competing in the Oct 3-14 Commonwealth Games because she feels that last minute work is not a new thing in big sporting events.

The triple Olympic gold medallist was confident Friday that Delhi will host one of the best Games ever.

'India's going to be a great country. It's going to be full of colour, people go there on holiday all the time and really enjoy it. I think we're going to have a really great time,' Jones was quoted as saying by the Sydney Morning Herald.

Not worrying about the incomplete venues, Jones added: 'Athens was exactly the same. Up to their Olympics, they were literally finishing the pool the day before they were competing, screwing things in.'

'I think they're going to put on a great show, with great colours and awesome food.'

According to Jones, her top-up bringing and trip to Africa have made her strong and she is prepared for the perils that might confront her during the stay in New Delhi.

'Growing up in the Northern Territory can be pretty scary as well and going to Africa, there was yellow fever, but you get vaccinations and you're careful about the water you drink,' said Jones.
