Indian held for Andhra student's murder to appear in court
    Irish Sun
    Friday 9th May, 2008
    (IANS)

A 24-year-old man from Andhra Pradesh was to appear before British magistrates Friday on charges of killing a woman from his native state in the city of Birmingham, 190 km from here.

Nagaraju Kumar Nalluri was arrested Wednesday - a day after police found the 23-year-old woman dead from head injuries in her rented house in the Birmingham suburb of Handsworth.

Police, who had been called to the address to investigate a disturbance, Thursday named the woman as Samrajyo Jyothirmayee Vempala, saying she was 'an Indian national who was in Britain on a study visa, attending the University of Wolverhampton.'

Media reports say Jyothirmayee came from Vijayawada and that Nalluri is a resident of Jeedimetla, Hyderabad.

Nalluri is also said to be studying in Britain - officials said although police had initially requested a translator, the services were not used.

A wounded Nalluri was taken by police from the same rented house where Jyothirmayee was found murdered Tuesday.
